A Letter from Pastor Jermell

November 25, 2024

Dear Common Good Family,

I write to you with a heart full of gratitude and love as I transition out of active ministry here at Common Good. As I shared last month in my conversation with Pastor Royce during our CHANGE sermon series, I will be focusing my time and energy pastoring at Liberation UCC and further leaning into the equitable and inclusive work that God has called me to in this season, serving as The ED for the AllianceQ, A Disciples of Christ organization.

This decision comes after much prayer and reflection, and though it is bittersweet, I am incredibly thankful for the season we have shared. Serving and growing with each of you has been one of the richest blessings of my life. Each service, gathering, and conversation has deepened my faith and strengthened my connection to our community in ways I will carry forward.

Please know that this transition does not mean goodbye. Our fellowship remains, and I am so excited to see what the spirit will do for Common Good next! We are forever bound by our shared love and faith. We are, as scripture reminds us, one body with many members, each contributing to the whole in our own unique ways. Our work together doesn’t end here, and I look forward to seeing how God continues to move in each of us.

I’m excited to be with you all on Sunday, December 8th to share an encouraging Advent message, and then to be back with you again leading worship at our Christmas Service on Sunday, December 22nd for our last and final gathering of 2024.

Thank you for an unforgettable season. Let’s remain in prayer and celebration of what lies ahead.

With all my love and gratitude,

Rev. Jermell Witherspoon
