Day 12 — Financial Provision

#DETOX is designed to prioritize God in the new year as we allow him to cleanse and renew our souls (Psalm 51:10). Together, we are committing to 21 days of prayer and fasting so that we might come into greater alignment with God’s will, purposes and plans believing and trusting in His power alone to create lasting impact and change in our lives, our church and our world.

Over the course of our #DETOX journey, we will have a daily prayer focus that will help guide and unify us as a community in prayer as we seek God's heart together on a variety of topics. You can find an overview of our daily prayer focus topics here. The following post is meant to serve  as a reminder and inspiration on what and how you might pray on today's prayer focus, but should not limit how God leads you in praying. Be sure to follow along daily at our #DETOX Daily Blog here.

Prayer Focus: Financial Provision

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” - Psalm 23:1

I love how one of the names of God is Jehovah Jireh, or “The Lord Will Provide.”

I struggle with money. Some days I worry about having enough. Other days I worry I am keeping too much for myself and therefore idolizing it.

I am glad God is a good Father and He has provided for me even when I have not trusted Him to do so.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:19

This year, I am moving out of my parent’s house. I will be spending much more money on living expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, etc. Before I trusted my earthly father to provide for me, and now I will be trusting my Heavenly Father to provide financially.

I am both excited and scared to see how God will provide. Deep down, I know He has, does and always will. Sometimes it seems He waits until the last minute to do so. At times this frustrates me, but then I wonder if it is His way of challenging me, asking me if I really do believe he is Jehovah Jireh, creator and ruler of the universe.

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” - Matthew 6:31-33

Heavenly Father, increase our faith in Your provision and love for each of us. Remind us that You know our every need. Show us how You provide for our individual needs, especially for those who are struggling financially within our community. Help us trust that You will provide for the financial needs of Marketplace as we grow and expand this year.

Open up our heart and eyes to ways You may be inviting us to provide financially for others. I thank You that You are a good Father and that it is indeed more blessed to give than to receive.

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” - Matthew 7:11

Thank you for providing forgiveness of sins through the death of Your one and only beloved Son on the cross. Help us trust that as You have provided for us spiritually in such a magnificent, sacrificial way, You can also be trusted to provide for us financially.

Jehovah Jireh, we praise and thank You for your provision.

In Your precious name we pray,

— Kayla J.
